Here are a couple of the portraits that caught my during the editing.

The finished portrait was to be reminiscent of a Victorian portrait so I opted for a slightly more dramatic form of lighting than I would normally use. That, and the the post-processing of the image convey that feel. Comments welcome as always.

Most bio photographs on websites (if they exist at all) often tend to be head and shoulders passport style images. These are normally great as you can recognise the subject even when the image is small.

In this case we decided to make them environmental photographic portraits i.e. including some of the office background and making the images a little larger. Colour portraits are great but the decision to print them in black and white was taken so that the photographers were ‘cleaner’ in appearance and didn’t compete or clash with the website colours.

As always, Alan was great to photograph and made it easy for me to capture a variety of different looks in the studio. I try and resist the temptation to lapse into clichés when photographing magicians, musicians and the like and photograph in a style that lets their personalities come forward rather than rely on props to convey an impression of what they are like as entertainers. I was really pleased with these photographs – here’s a few favourites from the session.

The brief was for a rugged, rough look to suit the purpose of this delicate little number so I found a fungus encrusted log that seemed to suit the subject well. I like the contrast in texture and colours between the background and the subject.  Not something you’d use to cut your cucumber sandwiches…

The Latin American Forum is a recently formed organisation dedicated to improving trade, business and cultural connections between Latin America and the U.K. I was asked to photograph the launch of the forum at City Hall in London recently. The keynote speaker was the London mayor, Boris Johnson. Apart from photographing the speeches, I was asked to document the event from the beginning, before the guests arrived through to the end of the launch. I have the pleasure of photographing many such events, both business and social and it’s always fun to tell the story of the day through the photographs. Here are a few favourites from the afternoon, photographed from the beginning when the delegates arrived.

The app. is designed to take you through the basics of negotiating a contract and Devant was keen to maximise the publicity associated with it’s release. The voiceover recording took place at No Machine Studios in Wokingham and the idea was to photograph the recording process and to use the photos in Devant’s press release and other publicity initiatives. I have to admit we cheated and photographed during the setup and the rehearsal because of the camera clicks.  Here are a few favourites from the photography session.
